Evergreen Property

Since 2012, we’ve been strategically investing in horticultural land in Australia and New Zealand to build a foundation for our protected cropping growth strategy, increasing quality, yield and the sustainable supply of produce.

Since 2012, we’ve been strategically investing in horticultural land in Australia and New Zealand to build a foundation for our protected cropping growth strategy, increasing quality, yield and the sustainable supply of produce.

Our vision is to retire existing open-field small-crop farms and build highly commercialised, protected cropping facilities right here on New Zealand soil to:

  • Better production by reducing chemicals and natural resources to produce crops

  • Increase the quantity of premium produce while simultaneously reducing the wastage of non-consumable crops

  • Protect crops from the volatility of temperatures and external factors like extreme weather events and safeguard food supply all year round

  • Provide consistency and economies of scale

Our properties are the cornerstone of an eco-system of sustainable food supply.

We focus heavily on steadily acquiring rural land across New Zealand towns and cities flagged as hot spots for land value growth to provide ROI to our investors. We invest in varied climatic regions across the North and South Island to grow a truly sustainable and diverse portfolio of produce.

Our property investment strategy.

Our property investment nous at Evergreen Group is backed by globally recognised qualifications in valuation, property management and agri-business management.

That means that as well as the proverbial green thumb and eco-ethos we’re known for, we have the business chops to back up our strategy. Not to mention, a rich history of successful orchard and farm investments both here in NZ and abroad.

Our current focus is on an Auckland rural kiwifruit property with the aim to develop a protected cropping facility and increase kiwifruit productivity. It’s an exciting time to get on board during this period of growth.

Qualities we look for in horticultural investment properties:

We add value to every piece of land we invest in and carefully assess the slices of New Zealand we choose to grow in for their horticultural value.

• Rural horticultural land in gateway New Zealand cities

Immediate horticultural return directly linked to the use of land and ability to generate intensive quality production and regular cashflow

Land value increase for consistent ROI for investors in key areas

Technical assessment of qualities for promising crop growth, including the area’s soil, sun, rainfall and daylight hours

Proximity to land and sea ports to assist with ease of supply chain accessibility

Varied locations across the North and South Island, to account for climate variations and provide a year-round supply of crops

Suitability for intensive cropping sites

Properties we’ve invested in.

Kerikeri, New Zealand: Kiwifruit Orchards

In 2013 we invested in three kiwifruit orchard properties in the small town of Kerikeri, Far North, New Zealand.

The area is known for mineral-rich volcanic soil, warm temperatures and minimal winter chill conducive to the plentiful growth of gold kiwifruit.

Evergreen was able to acquire the properties for a competitive price. As the orchards were already actively producing kiwifruits, this was a cashflow-positive asset.

Over the period of ownership, Evergreen Group successfully developed the orchards into higher-producing properties and secured a return on investment.

Bundaberg, Australia:
Cropping Farm

In 2019 we invested in farmland 30 minutes south of Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia - an area colloquially known as ‘the fruit bowl’ due to the share volume of produce grown each year.

The farm was located in the heart of the horticultural activity in the area and by proximity offered insights and connections into the Australian market, food services and distribution chain.

Evergreen was able to grow a variety of produce within the same piece of land, reducing the risk factor of the investment and diversifying the range of produce available to sell to market.
